Fire's Edge

Thanks to the Cedaredge, Delta, Rifle and Hotchkiss fire fighters and to Seth and Lynn Felix and many others,  this fire came to a stop before it blew up into a major forest fire. 

Three homes were surrounded by ash but no homes were destroyed

A close call for this poppy at the very edge of the fire.

Dan talking to the telephone repair man who spent most of the night getting the phones up and running for the community and for the Water Treatment Plant. 

Dan spent the night at the Treatment Plant making sure that water kept flowing to the firefighters.

Although the fire was headed up the hill toward the Treatment Plant, Dan assured me that he was in no danger and if the fire got close he could always drive over Grand Mesa to get home.
